Having Trouble Logging in with MFA?
Background Information
NPMS applications now use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) login protocols.
NPMS issued username and password login method is no longer allowed.
To access NPMS applications, users must now have 2 distinct accounts.
- MFA provider account at LOGIN.GOV or MyAccess
This account handles the AUTHENTICATION that proves you are the actual user.
- Login.gov- This is the provider most NPMS account holders will use.
- MyAccess- Only available to US Department of Transportation PIV card holders. This is the required MFA provider for US Department of Transportation PIV card holders.
- NPMS account
This account is the APPROVAL to view NPMS data based on qualifying position.
The emails must match between these 2 distinct accounts to successfully access NPMS applications.
Existing NPMS account holders are those users that have previously accessed NPMS applications with their username and password. Existing NPMS account holders have been setup with the ability to use the LOGIN.GOV or MyAccess using the email associated with your current NPMS account.
New NPMS account requests, please request an NPMS account here and follow the instructions.
NOTE: It is inherent upon the existing NPMS account holder to register with the appropriate MFA provider using the email associated with your original NPMS account request. NPMS staff will closely scrutinize any requests to alter the email associated with your original NPMS account request. These requests will be subject to the verification process and time constraints as if it were a new account request. A valid reason is REQUIRED to change your business email but retain the approval for NPMS access.

If the error you receive has the NPMS banner at top (see below), please follow the instructions on screen.

Having Trouble Logging In With MyAccess (Authentication Issues)?

If you selected the wrong PIV or Certificate when logging in with MyAccess and are locked out, you will need to:
- Close your browser
- Re-Open your browser
- Clear your cache
- Restart the sign-in process
- Make sure your credentials are correct by verifying at workforce here
