Apply for Access to NPMS Applications

The NPMS includes several mapping applications that display or collect NPMS pipeline data. NPMS pipeline data is Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) subject to safeguarding and dissemination controls. In order to access these sensitive data and applications you must apply for an NPMS account.

NPMS accounts are restricted to employees of government agencies within the United States (including emergency responders and Tribal governments) and employees of pipeline operating companies who operate facilities subject to NPMS submission regulations.

If you are a consultant/subcontractor working on behalf of a pipeline operator or a federal, tribal, state, or local government agency (including emergency response), you can ask your official pipeline operator or government contact to sponsor you for an NPMS contractor account by submitting an application on your behalf here.

Authentication

NPMS applications contain Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) subject to safeguarding and dissemination controls. NPMS applications must comply with federal government cybersecurity Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) protocols to help ensure the data remains secure and your personal information is protected.

MFA is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to an application, like PIMMA or OSAVE. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.

In order to access NPMS, you will need to have a login account with an approved MFA provider using the business contact email you entered earlier. NOTE: Your email of record for your NPMS account will be setup for MFA authentication on NPMS applications and must reflect your status as a direct official/employee of a government agency, tribal government, or a pipeline operator.
