Ecological USA are defined in 49 CFR 195.6. PHMSA previously chose to distribute proprietary Ecological USA data produced by NatureServe (https://www.natureserve.org/) to hazardous liquid pipeline operators for use in formulating their Integrity Management plans. These proprietary data were for informational purposes only and were one information resource operators could consider when identifying areas that meet the definitions in 49 CFR 195.6.
